Calling all Totnes skaters
The Council would like to hear your preference between two designs for a new skatepark at Borough Park behind the leisure centre in Borough Park. (SEE DESIGNS BELOW)
We have been working with designers to come up with options that reflect the features you have been calling for – we know that there are some Totnes skaters that want a bowl, others that don’t, so the two designs reflect this and show what the space could deliver. Now we want to hear which design you prefer.
The two options
The plans below show the two designs, with an aerial plan detailing the features included in each option, and four more 3D plans for each option showing the view from each side of the skatepark to give you a better feel of what the park would be like to skate.
Option A has an open mini-ramp bowl with street/flow features. Option B loses the bowl and gives the whole space over to street/flow.
Both options include a shelter, and vertical features that can be graffitied.
If from your responses we see that there are small changes to the preferred design that could deliver a better park for you, we can make those changes now. We then want to quickly take the preferred option forward in a new planning application this summer.
If the planning application is successful we will then focus on securing the remaining funding to make this skatepark happen. We have been invited to make a second stage bid to the Lottery for funding, but need to make this happen as soon as possible. If we secure the remaining funding, there may be a final stage of tweaking the design if needed.
We will keep this survey open for 2 weeks until Weds 28th July, after which we will look at all the responses and then focus on submitting the planning application. If you have friends that would use the skatepark please let them know that we want to hear their thoughts on the designs.
